Mr. Submarine, located in Joliet, entices many with its classic yet flavorful subs, soups, salads, loaded fries, and more to meet all customers’ desires.
Though Mr. Submarine is known for its subs, they have a huge selection of all different types of loaded fries, which is the reason I decided to give this place a try. Some of the options they provide are: Italian beef loaded fries, bacon cheese fries, chilli cheese fries, Philly steak loaded fries, gyro loaded fries, Greek fries, garlic cheese fries, and the classic plain fries.
I ordered the buffalo chicken cheese fries, which include a large portion of crinkle-cut fries, smothered with cheese sauce, and topped with sliced buffalo breaded chicken with buffalo sauce drenched on top. The fries were nice and soft but not mushy, and the chicken was tender and had a nice tangy, slightly spicy buffalo flavor, which was the right amount of heat. The melted nacho cheese was creamy with no spice and helped to balance out the spicy.
The fries were excellent, and the portion size was so large that it filled up a large takeout container. The cost was $10.99, but that’s not bad considering it ended up being a whole meal by itself. However, I was unfortunately unable to try any more of their other countless items on the menu due to being so full. I will definitely be back to try more.
Mr. Submarine’s had a relaxing, chill atmosphere with a classic diner feel and look including the tile floors and red leather chairs. It’s the type of place to swing by after a long day of school.
The service was great, and my food came out as quickly as I ordered it. The staff was also kind and polite.
If anyone needs to swing by a place to get a quick meal for cheap, then Mr. Submarine is a great place to go. Overall, I would give this restaurant 5/5 stars.
