All dreams have some kind of meaning, even if they are beyond weird. Having a dream about a video game has a meaning: that the dreamer has spent far too much time thinking about that video game. The same goes for a tv show. Dreams about the most random things have meaning, because they come from whatever is on one’s mind.
Some dreams have more obvious meanings, such as stress dreams, which often let one know to take a step back and relax. Others, while less obvious, can still hold a message. Dreams of falling, or losing things are often linked to insecurity and anxiety. Other, happier dreams, can mean that the dreamer is content.
Sigmund Freud, who researched the unconscious mind, claimed that dreams were manifestations of unconscious wants and desires. He claimed that dreams had manifest and latent content; essentially they had a literal storyline and a less literal meaning. Psychologists now do not know if dreams do or do not have meaning, so only theories like Freud’s can be relied on for any information on whether or not dreams have meanings.
It seems unlikely that the brain would come up with something entirely without meaning, and for no reason. Dreams are warnings and reminders and manifestations of one’s thoughts. That is why dreams often have similarities to real life, or to what has been on the dreamer’s mind.
Dreams have meanings, not anything clearly defined, but meanings for one to infer based on their life and current feelings.
