Everybody needs a break at some point. Life can be stressful, and a few days off can help us center our minds and feel better. So we can perform better in school. That is why schools should incorporate more days off.
School and work can be very busy, and it can be hard to manage when motivation to get things done wanes, especially in the winter months. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, many people experience higher levels of anxiety in the winter due to things like shortened days and the lack of sunlight. Taking a break or a vacation can help break the stress cycle and allow for restoration of the mind and body.
So if schools were to give students more days off, it would be beneficial to our mental health, which would in turn help us become more efficient and less stressed.
As humans, it is important to take a step back and put things into perspective if you feel stuck or unsure, because it can help inspire ideas and improve the effort we put into our work. Days off can reduce the risk of burnout as it gives us a break from our repetitive day-to-day habits.
These days should be redistributed from Thanksgiving break and a few days of summer break. giving us more days off per month throughout the year
Life should not revolve around school or work; it is vital to have a work-life balance. We need to focus on our aspirations, hobbies, and relationships outside of those things because there is more to life than that. Weekends are not always sufficient, as many of us have jobs and work on weekends. This can make it difficult to catch up on sleep and schoolwork.
As much as days off can improve our mental health, they also allow for physical recovery. According to Mayo Clinic, stress can raise blood pressure and heighten the risk of heart disease. So, taking time away from the things that cause stress can help our physical and emotional health, but it is not always that easy because if we miss school, it just puts us more behind, making us more stressed. That is why schools should incorporate more days off each month to break up the repetitive stress cycle and give us time to decompress and catch up on work.
