Michael Bublé’s tenth anniversary is a perfect way to set these holidays off.
Bublé is releasing a super deluxe box, which comes with an original CD and a green vinyl. It also comes with a seven track bonus CD with songs such as “The Christmas Sweater,” “Let it snow,” and “Winter Wonderland” featuring Rod Stewart.
That’s not the end of it though; it also includes a 48-page hardbound book that features a personal handwritten letter from Bublé, a number lithograph, and a behind-the-scenes ‘The Making of christmas’ DVD; an exclusive Christmas Ornament, and Christmas Wrap and Cards set. He also has an upcoming album sometime in 2022. His current album will be hard to top though.
The first song “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas” has this smooth, magical feeling that soothes the ears. If I were 21, it would taste like smooth wine perfectly aged, while I’m near a warm fire in a fuzzy sweater to keep away from the cold. It sets the tone for the first part of the album with a nice orchestrated background and a mix of jazz. Throughout the album it mostly has a slow tempo vibe to it, and even the fast-paced songs still feel a little slow.
Bublé was very versatile with this album including jazz, orchestra, and pop. It was also very well produced. However a song that I generally didn’t like, and could barely listen to was “Jingle Bells” featuring The Puppini Sisters. It’s hard to top such an iconic song. Buble took a very 1940s style to it with an all female chorus, and jazz instrumentals.
I once again enjoyed the instrumentals in the background; however, the The Puppini Sisters had a very horrible chorus. It was hard to hear, and it did not flow with the instrumentals. Poor Bublé on this track sounded like he was having a hard time keeping up with the tempo, which was short and quick. His voice was long and wavy like string being sewn into clothes compared to the short and choppy instrumentals.
Bublé, however, had very phenomenal songs on this album. He even tried Spanish on the track “Mis Deseos/ Feliz Navidad (with Thalia)”. I enjoyed this song so much because their voices were a perfect blend when they sang together. The wonderful instrumentals were literally heavenly. Buble and Thalia were melodic together, each carrying their weight on this track. My other favorite was “Blue Christmas” which gave me the energy of Christmas, eating very spicy gumbo on Bourbon Street near the bayou.
Overall I enjoyed this album, however, it is not suitable for every occasion.. Buble made songs that are great for background music while doing puzzles with the family on Christmas Eve. Or at a fancy dinner party. The album is not really to be played in the car or to jam out at crazy parties. Bublé in the end however produced a great album, so I would have to give it 4 stars.
