The poms team made state with a fourth-place sectionals finish at Washington High School on Saturday, Jan. 21.

“These girls all fought hard this season and came out for victory,” coach Amber Baltas said. The pomcats are the only Plainfield team that qualified and will continue to work hard.

“This year we’re back and better than ever,” senior Elise Minott said. These ladies have had some difficulties this season but are proud to see their hard work being shown.

“This season has been tough. With each obstacle the pomcats keep getting back up and fighting harder,” assistant coach Becca Vickers said.

One of the judges complimented them on having “such a captivating performance” and enjoyed the dedication expressed in the performance.

“This team reminds me of when we went to state my freshman year. We mesh together so well and I feel like we finally pulled everything together,” junior, Maddie Sabella said. The last time the pomcats made state was in 2021, and they are excited to get back on the state floor.

The state competition will be held at Grossinger Motors Arena starting on Friday, Jan. 27.
