Students headed to the restrooms are being greeted with creative ways to stay informed. The “Wildcats Stall Talks” creates accessible information for students to become involved by being posted in a simple and visible area.
The creation of the Wildcats Stall Talks, otherwise known as The Flush, has goals to provide quick reminders, fun facts and motivational content for busy students.
“A few years ago we put a bunch of flyer holders on the back of the doors in the bathroom. At first, we were great about updating those. I was at a couple of other schools and noticed that they created a monthly newsletter with fun information in their bathrooms. Nothing was too serious but had fun facts, jokes and even upcoming events,” faculty member Jane Doe* said.
Some students believe the placement of this flyer should be on the outside portion of the stall door rather than the inside.
“I feel it is an odd thing to look at while using the restroom, and it can feel uncomfortable to others,” junior Nicole Chase said.
Doe created the stall talks in hopes that the flyers will bring entertainment to the students with jokes and fun facts about the school.
“Hopefully, it will keep things light and give them information about upcoming activities,” Doe said.
Sophomore Natalia Harkness is thankful for the stall talks as they allow her to get involved.
“Last year, I missed out on homecoming spirit week, but this year I went all out,” Harkness said.
On the contrary, senior Tomas Coleman feels as though there are other visible areas to place flyers with valuable information. The placement of student restrooms chosen by Doe is avoided by many students for their own personal reasons.
“Hopefully, it will keep things light and give them information about upcoming activities.” Doe said.
Although information is presented to the student body, both Chase and Coleman admit the information is useful and helpful but they won’t be enthusiastic about viewing the Wildcats Stall Talks throughout the school year.
Doe has hopes to create a monthly flyer for the students to create a new creative way to receive information.
“Just something fun, hopefully someone will get a laugh out of a joke that is on it or a fun fact.” Doe said.
